Cameron will provide free smores fixin's, including marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate bars to satisfy the kid in all of us. They will be serving coffee, hot chocolate and warm cider in addition to the regular good food and beverage selection.
Acknowledging that music can be a great way to bring people together, Ms. Morlock began looking for a place to accommodate folks getting together and enjoy making music. Cameron's has always been a gathering spot for music making, and the idea of making it a family campfire soon surfaced to enthusiastic response. "I thought it would be cool to put together an evening to help bring families and our wonderful coastside community together, and Cameron was kind enough to suggest his Outback Corral for the event," stated Ms. Morlock.
The evening will basically be singing and playing outback in the corral area of Cameron's. We have a list of good-spirited, family-friendly songs conducive to sing together around the fire. They include mostly classic tunes with a few folk songs and originals. Words will be provided. Singing and playing along are strongly encouraged.
Kellie Morlock will be leading the songmaking. She is well-known coastside vocalist that has performed with local bands around town as well as the Pumpkin Festival and Dream Machines, in addition to being a member of the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir.
Cameron's Restaurant & Inn is located at 1410 S. Cabrillo Highway, Half Moon Bay, CA.

Local singer starts series of family-friendly singalongs

On a small stage ringed by benches and a green lawn, a man strums a guitar and a woman’s voice sends a familiar folk tune wafting up into the evening sky.Folks sit back and listen. Children gather at a camp table, digging into bags of marshmallows and boxes of graham crackers, and soon s’mores are toasting over a campfire. In crisp, cool sunshine, children face off for a noisy game of tug-of-war, and a dog or two stretches lazily on the grass.
This scene was planned and brought to life by Half Moon Bay singer Kellie Morlock and Cameron’s Restaurant and Inn owner Cameron Palmer: family-friendly summer evening singalongs in Half Moon Bay. Musicians and friends gather for a night of music at Cameron's on Saturday night modeled after a campfire sing-a-long.
To bring Coastsiders of all ages together, build community and have fun around music, Morlock sought a place to make music and Palmer offered the “corral” area in the Outback behind his restaurant.
Morlock, a local vocalist who has performed with local bands, in Coastal Repertory Theatre productions and with the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, put together a song list that blended Beatles oldies, traditional folk, a little reggae, and family-friendly classics like “Brown-Eyed Girl” and “Proud Mary.”
